Transformers do too.  Much of the gear we use today is low voltage stuff
powered via a transformer, rectifier and smoothing capacitor (to convert
to DC).  The transformer requires AC to work at all!

Of course, most of our computers are powered by switched-mode power
supplies, but that's a particularly unpleasant "can of worms" best left
for another discussion!
