Its how I host my site and a few clients on my server.  I'm paying 1/2 
what I used to pay for a dedicated server and haven't noticed any 
performance difference.

And a large vbulletin based board I manage is with  unlimited for 2/3rds 
the cost of the previous 1&1 server with 3 times the memory and several 
more processors.  Its been reliable and very fast.
