Yes.  Really.  I deal with the Dibbles on a daily basis, and am
invariably treated with suspicion when they spot things like rotating
multiple desktops and all the other whizzy effects that Compiz can do!
It's fun running Windoze in a Window on just one of the desktops on my
laptop....

They publicise all sorts of "war stories" of their expertise, but the
truth is that they're mostly dealing with really stupid criminals (the
vast majority are pretty dense).  The cleverer criminals never come to
the attention of the Plods.... 

The "computer forensics" I've seen are entirely defeated by any
filesystem that's not NTFS or FAT (and they have trouble with NTFS).
EXT3 or XFS will completely defeat them, and even the most trivial
encryption will just get the computer user arrested immediately "because
he must have something to hide"!
