Request for clarification:
Do you mean it has some kind of hardware RAID controller, or it is set
up with software RAID using two disks on an ordinary SATA controller?
If the former, then it will depend very much on what the controller is;
if the latter, then generic advice is easier. Either way it sounds like
some kind of hardware failure (given that you can't do a clean
installation) and it will probably be a case of checking log files for
error messages.
