Hello Christian (and all),

I am glad you are still keen to go ahead with that and I would like to
be involved. It would be good to hear in more detail what you had in
mind.

I can imagine it taking about 3 hours with time for refreshments and
chatting. So it could be held during the day on the weekend or as an
evening event in the week.

A possible agenda could be:

2pm Introduction to Linux. Why is open source a good idea / Examples of
people and organizations who use Linux successfully

2.30pm Demonstration (projected onto screen) of Linux desktop and
applications

3pm Split into groups for more detailed, hands on, experience of using
Linux

3.30pm Refreshments and chatting

4.00pm A talk on the practicalities of using Linux including
disadvantages (eg. Some programs incompatible and less support?) and
advantages. Introduce user groups etc. Also make suggestions about pros
and cons of different Linux distributions.

4.45pm People can leave or stay behind for specific one to one help with
installation or other issues.

5.30 Everybody leaves.

These are only suggestions somewhat off the top of my head but hopefully
we can refine the agenda with time.

The other thing we would need to tackle is publicising it so we get
enough people who are really interested and who might actually switch to
Linux.

I can bring my lap top to demonstrate Linux being used and also a desk
top which could be used for the same purpose and / or for demo install
of a Linux distro.

Best wishes from Steve
