Why exactly do you need the CUPS password ? I can't find the CX3600 in
the list of printers avaialble in Ubuntu, but quite often most printers
can be used by setting them up as a similar model which will use the
same driver. One post shows that the CX3100 can be used successfully to
print with , ie

So if you just select your printer and usb port when does it ask you for
the password ?
