[HLUG] RE: Herefordshire Digest, Vol 781, Issue 2

Julian,

thanks for your swift reply, and kind offer ... If you can spare a little time, you might be able to shed some light on my problems with Mint 5 Elyssa ... It is up and running presently, as you can see, but with the other HDD physically detached, because otherwise everything grinds to a BusyBox halt at boot time ... As Mint 5 is a new release, perhaps it has bugs? Also, although I have been advised to try another install on a partitioned HDD, alongside Windoze, but I am very loathe to try this, because if it fails, then I'm really stuck ... I'm on 01568 708 921 or here of course (eMail). You would be made very welcome, with tea/coffee, snacks etc., so I leave it to your convenience, but knowing that you are a family man, please put me low on your priorities?

Chris.

I can only get Mint to fire up if I physically disconnect the HDD with Windoze Vista on it. If the other HDD is connected, when I boot into Linux, BusyBox fires up, and then just hangs ...

With a new nVidia graphics card, I installed Mint 5 and thought everything was fine, and it was, until I reconnected the Windoze Vista HDD ... Then BusyBox and limbo ... BusyBox is like a 'death rattle' to me, and I don't even know what it is supposed to do, other than driving me nuts, which it does very successfully ... Aaaarrrggghhh!
