Ummm, I'd really steer clear of Jaunty at the moment, especially (and
there's no disrespect intended here) if you are asking questions about
how to find out which version of Ubuntu you are running. Jaunty is
ALPHA for a reason - it will probably break your computer if you use it.

Not without repartitioning your disks, but if you;ve got enough free
space, then yes, it is do-able.

In the main, although you may be shocked at some of the results (I
know I was when I did an etch->lenny migration for a debian system I
run the other week!).

Hold down CTRL+ALT+F1 and see what information it gives you. My
Machine tells me I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.2 which is Hardy. Intrepid
is 8.10 and Jaunty is 9.04.

The latest you should need to run for this kind of thing is 8.10.

Make sure you press CTRL+ALT+F7 to return to your window manager!
