Until a couple of weeks ago I was dual-booting Mint & Ubuntu when I
decided I wanted Ubuntu to be the default. After some searching I found
a Gui called Startup-Manager; perhaps it was in the Mint repository?
Anyway, it worked very nicely for changing the default boot. I just
looked for it again, its not in the Ubuntu repository, probably because
its not maintained anymore. If you're interested you can find it at
https://launchpad.net/startup-manager & there is a .deb file linked from
here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/startupmanager/1.9.13-5/+build/1851487

Of course, if you use it be sure you know how to recover manually
from any problems :)
