Just my pennies worth..
I have never used mint... But how do you want to install it?
Do you want to dual boot so you can reboot & choose windows or mint?

If you just want to wipe windows & install mint you may have to configure your BIOS to boot from USB device if that's where your install is.
Also a USB with an iso is not the same as a CD...as the iso is an image ...
If you want to test it use something like virtual box this will allow you to install then if you like it..write iso image to CD imgburn is a free iso image program for windows..
