[HLUG] Archiving dead users email accounts

Hi

Something that has come up that I wonder if any of you have any advice.

I'm moving mail servers to a new host, but have a number of now dead user
email accounts on the old server. I want to keep them (for now) so they can
be accessed if needs be but this is unlikely to be used much at all, as
some users left a few years ago now. I can just copy over as mailboxes and
accounts to new host via imapsync but don't want these accounts to be
easily accessible. We are using Dovecot BTW, and old the host uses cpanel
so no shell access (new host has command line access ;-) . I would rather
store them locally if possible. But as you have probably found archiving
mail isn't quite so obvious if you're not using Outlook.

So I can archive on server or as a client mail archive, I don't mind and
need to do this for about 15 mail accounts ..

Ideas ?

Open source solution preferred ... (of course ;-) )
