Hi,
I've read quite a few posts about the lack of a separate menu in ubuntu.
Have installed 'classic menu indicator' in ubuntu 14.04 and earlier
versions, which works flawlessly and gives a complete menu stack.
The .deb package can be accessed from here:
http://www.florian-diesch.de/software/classicmenu-indicator/
Solves the beginners problem of using the dash.
