Hi Gorden,
I'm no expert on ubuntu but it appears to also be in the software centre.

 'classicmenu-indicator displays the main menu from Gnome2/Gnome Classic'
from the software center in Ubuntu,
this way updates should happen without problems.
I have upgraded my mother from windows to Ubuntu and it is quite
interesting the feedback I'm getting,
She had absolutely no idea how wide open she was to being scammed/robbed.
