[HLUG] Performing rights.

My main laptop is an ASUS with Debian Wheezy installed.
I often use iplayer to play sound channels, or video accompanied
by sound.

I also have a Lenovo laptop, and have recently installed  a set-up
which is similar to that on the ASUS.
I keep meeting up with requests to sign in, or other similarities,
and even on YouTube I am not allowed to play the items on offer.

Has something been changed since I set up the ASUS ?
The whole thing reeks of "performing rights" lawyers.
