[HLUG] Toshiba NB200 Linux please

I offered to install Xubuntu on a friends
Toshiba NB200-12n netbook

but its harder than I thought.
My Xubuntu14.04 boot USB light is flashing on and off
and has been for hours
but the screen is dead.

Which distro should I try it with?

(The windows 7 was damaged by malware)
