What may of persuaded BT in your case was how close your hamlet is Airband
community microwave internet. Much cheaper than BT, especially if you add
your telephone. They have even laid fibre past to my house and I can see
the box by my entrance.

Hi all,

We found here that if there was sufficient demand from the villagers then
open reach make an effort. They put fibre to a connection box in the
village and later put fibre along the poles to boxes. Some time after,
approx. 2-3 weeks, might have been a bit longer, BT informed those of us
that had applied and had confirmation of the orders, that a connection
would be made to the premises, would we establish where the connection box
was to be placed - it had to be somewhere where a man had his feet on the'
ground 'when connecting to the router - we found out. About a fortnight
later, an appointment was made to connect up to inside. It appears at the
moment, a connection can only be made here for B B and NOT tel. as well.
So, I ended up with Copper to Tel. which existed, and fibre to B B router.

I was very fortunate, in as much that the poles to the premises, existing
,were downgraded, so fibre went underground but copper stays on poles.
Hope this helps,

Roy
