Well, unless you are reinstalling with an older version of the browser
than before the wipe, I am not sure that is necessarily true unless
you are certain that the browser did not update at all before audio
stopped working.
I don't think that you said which browser and OS you are running, but
I created a meeting in a web browser (Chrome and Firefox) on my local
machine (RHEL9) and connected to each in turn with the mobile app and
I could hear sound both ways. With Firefox, I didn't make any changes
to extensions (Privacy Badger, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials) aside
from temporarily allowing JS for zoom.us in NoScript, run Privoxy
locally, use Pi-hole for DNS and simply allowed temporary access to
the audio when the browser prompted.

You are definitely automatically/manually joining the audio for the meeting?
I would still suggest that you save yourself time and effort and just
install the app, either on your phone or on your computer, unless
there is some reason that you are trying to avoid that?
