Not really; It happens a surprisingly large amount, and not just with
hardware drivers - with software too.  The reason is - the Linux community
like you for doing it - They dont care about lack of support, and it means
you dont have to support it... A key issue for the manufacturer!  Imagine
trying to support amateur linux users - it would be a complete nightmare.

There's probably other reasons too - Such as maybe they use it internally! -
Perhaps they find unix/linux better for testing the device!
