[Klug-general] Changing the Standard Gnome Desktop

For what its worth, I'm using Ubuntu.

I would like to add a few button to the desktop all my users. Which
seams easier said than done.

I've been trying to use sabayon but it does not seam to be doing what
I expect, sometimes it does what I want, and sometimes it does not,
and when you think you might have everything just so it locks the
whole thing up, so the only way to unlock things is to start again.
(removing the sabayon profile seams to work quite well)

I'm not trying to lock things down. Just ensure move the menus around
and maybe change the defaults, if people later want to customize it
then that's fine.

Sounds simple, but Gnome settings are in about 5 different places and
it all seams very gui locked like windows.....

The Gnome Admin guide great doc but just too complicated.

Peter.
