LipSync Post is a leading London film post-production facility. Films
worked on include: Kick-Ass, Hellboy II, Stardust, 28 Days Later,
Solomon Kane and The Bourne Ultimatum.
Applicants should have experience in some or all of the following areas:
Unix/Linux Systems administration; Windows and Mac support; scripting in
python/perl/shell; knowledge of well-known graphics and visual effects
software. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop
their skills in these areas, and training will be given where needed.
This junior role will be ideal for an applicant with strong technical
skills, who wishes to increase their experience. It will be suitable for
applicants recently graduated in technical, scientific or creative
subjects, or with equivalent experience. A demonstrable interest in
video or film-making technology will be of benefit.
*Position Summary: *
*
Support of computer equipment: Linux servers and workstations,
Macintosh and PC workstations.
*
Support of peripheral equipment, such as tape drives, printers,
scanners, and related film equipment
*Responsibilities:*
*
Assist users with hardware, software, email, network, peripheral
problems and troubleshooting.
*
Assist with administration of workstations, servers, email and
databases.
*
Monitor disk and network usage.
*
Assist in writing tools to enhance production data-flow
*
Assist in writing documentation.
*
Perform regular maintenance on computer hardware.
*
Assist in installation of hardware and software.
*Required Skills/Experience:*
*
Understanding of various Linux, Macintosh and PC workstations.
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
*
Ability to work independently on assigned projects.
*
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
*
Flexibility in working hours.
*Desired Skills/Experience:*
*
Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and
processes.
*
Scripting and programming experience (Perl, c/c++, sh/csh).
*
Experience with Unix software and processes.
*
Familiarity with networked/distributed computing concepts.
*
Database experience.
*
Interest in film, computer animation and visual effects.
