Reporting to the Engineering Supervisors, the successful candidate will provide Linux and IT support for TV Broadcast studios and post production facilities.
The range of tasks includes: providing proactive support for a Media Asset Management system in a very busy post production facility; administering and maintaining a range of applications running on Linux and Windows Servers; supporting producers and clients in mediahouse post production suites and facilities; working as part of a dynamic engineering team towards engineering developments and special projects within mediahouse.
PLEASE NOTE: It is anticipated that this position will involve shift work including late nights, early mornings and weekends.
For this role, candidates must have experience in a client facing support role, preferably in a broadcast TV or internet multi-media operation. Good network fundamentals and in-depth knowledge of Linux (preferably Red Hat) based systems are essential. Knowledge of Cloud Computing and Virtualisation; Red Hat Kickstart scripting; and large storage manipulation (GFS2) and LVMs is vital. Candidates will also be expected to have experience with Brocade / Cisco switches (command line configuration) and experience of administrating Samba / BIND9 (NDS) and DHCP servers.
Knowledge of Spectralogic tape libraries and of IBM TSM and DB2 products would be desirable, and knowledge of VizRT Ardome Media Asset Management (MAM) products would be beneficial. BASH and Perl programming experience would also be advantageous.
Candidates must be educated to degree or equivalent level in a Computing or Engineering subject, and must have a LPIC 1 / Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) qualification. A Cisco CCNA qualification would be beneficial.
