[Nottingham] Printing issue, any suggestions?

same thing really

what do you get if you do

lpr (any pure text file, /etc/resolv.conf is my fav cos its little)
gs any file

both from a x-terminal

using CUPS have you tried configuring a printer natively ie: via
http://localhost:631/admin

It sounds a lot like a ghostscript problem.
