One thing you could try is this
Apparently RH backported the cdr ide stuff from the dev kernels so
scsi emulation is not neccesay anymore so

rmmod ide-scsi
modprobe ide-cd
cdrecord -dev=/dev/hdn -tao whatever files

and see if it works
