But it's a very nice camcorder, honest :-)

Kind of had the feeling that might be the response, started thinking 
about it after I sent it. So far the only sites I've seen that keep 
reasonably up to date are the distro vendors themselves, although a 
friend of mine bought a Shuttle X machine recently and after trying 
several distros decided to bite the bullet and buy a copy of Suse Pro 
9.1. The reason he did this is because the SATA raid device uses 
propietry drivers, but according to Suse's list they only supported the 
device up to version 8??? Anyway happy ending, Suse worked he's now a 
Linux convert and all is well with the world once more.
