Don't neglect the users.

Have you given them a demo of a linux desktop using office 
applications - let them have a play with the word processor, 
email client?

Have you planned your desktop ?  Have you planned basic 
training, familiarisation and migration from MS Office to Open 
Office (or whatever you are going to use)? What about existing 
documents ?  Are these to be converted or will they continue to 
save in MS format?.  Have you checked whether their existing 
documents are rendered well?  How about making sure that they 
can find their documents (navigating through unfamiliar 
directory structures /home etc.) and that the application 
defaults make life as simple as possible.  What about fonts? 
This will be the basis of their first impressions.


Their word of mouth recommendations or condemnations are what 
counts most.

Keep things as simple as you can.
