I did a batch of PC Chips boards last year that wouldn't handle the type of 
RAM we was using without the update, hot swapping the chip worked fine for 
me too - I was too lazy to swap the ram out of them all ;). I just used a 
small flat screwdriver and lifted them out by the corners.
