Does it have an updated nvidia-kernel-source package for you too?

If Ubuntu does the nvidia drivers in the same way as Debian you might
want to just install module-assistant and run sudo m-a a-i nvidia (which
will build the nvidia-kernel-source into the nvidia-kernel-<version of
your kernel> package and install the latter) and see if that will then
let you do the upgrade.
