[Nottingham] Media Centre Linux distro?

My personal POV is that the BBC is a good thing and should be
taxpayer-funded, the license fee is just a slightly bizarre and
difficult to implement tax.

There's far too much room for argument in these definitions - I see
broadcast and 'internet stream' as completely different technologies*.
Also the 'live' part is debatable - not only because many technologies
cause delays, but because specific content provided on demand is
probably more valuable than stuff that is broadcast - why should
something 'live' attract revenue that quality archived content
doesn't? Does anyone know of an authoritative source?

*It's way off topic but I've never understood what's in it for the BBC
with iPlayer. It costs them, and could reduce the demand for boxed
sets and repeats which would make money. There's a sharp contrast with
ad-funded channels where online content should be a no brainer - the
chance to show accurately targeted ads and have accurate viewer stats.
