Just a tiny point, Jason: due to some minor tricks with accounting, no
movie produced in the US (or anywhere else in the Western hemisphere,
for that matter) has ever recorded a profit. This is something to do
with the fact that the Hollywood movie industry was founded by two
Chicago crime bosses: Sam Goldwyn (who was actually born in what was
then part of Russia) and Jesse Lasky, his brother in law. Hollywood
Accounting, as it is more popularly known, therefore has its roots in
bookmaking (ie gambling accounts), hence used as a way to completely
avoid taxes.
