Last night I mentioned "Humble Bundle 9" and got asked to post a quick
email about.

The Humble team have been doing a variety of bundles for a while now.
The main bundles tend to be of games from independent developers, are
DRM free and (with only a very few exceptions) fully cross-platform
(Windows, OS X and GNU/Linux). The GNU/Linux installs range from full
RPM/DEBs thru tar.gz files, WINE wrappers and, on the odd occasion, the
source. Some are 64-bit but most 32-bit (which can raise a few issues on
64-bit systems, easily resolved though).

The actual games vary wildly and this current bundle is simply awesome.

I've only played a few, and am currently really enjoying FTL.

Trine 2 - Basically a 2D platformer but presented in simply glorious
fake 3D. You play with three characters and use their various abilities
to solve the problems you encounter along the way. There's often
multiple ways to solve a problem.

Fez - Another 2D platformer with a 3D twist. The world is 3D, but you
play on the 2D surface you can see. To solve problems you rotate the 3D
view to get a different 2D platform to play on. Cutesy pixelated
retro-style graphics add to the charm.

Faster than light (FTL) - A Rogue-like space explorer where you progress
through various levels to eventually battle the enemy base ship. You
have to manage the crew, ships power, weapons, augmentations etc and
there's various power-ups/extensions available for completing certain
challenges (e.g. having six different species as crew at once). Very
easy to play and rather enjoyable. Oh, and you suffer true death. No
save points here!

10 games if you pay over the average, cross-platform, pay what you want?
Can't be all bad, can it?
