[Nottingham] help Needed Urgently

You mean your VPS provider gives you no baked-in FTP server? I've mostly
had to use horrid HTTP up/downloads.
Can't you simply install an FTP server into the image and use that? Even if
its network is host-only, you should be able to port forward.
