I had put out some feelers too (no replies yet).

I would encourage being extremely careful with the reels, given their
age, they are probably prone to snapping and going to require splicing
afterwards, secondly there's a reasonable chance the magnetic medium
may detach from the substrate on reading.

BBC Radio Nottingham would seem a good candidate---the pay-off for
them would be doing a feel-good piece around your wedding anniversary,
if good material turns up on the tapes and you'd probably want to make
it known that you'd be willing to co-operate/have somebody present to
record/interview at the anniversary day. Being the BBC they probably
won't have any problems with rights-issues depending on what music
might turn up on the tapes.

All-in-all, don't underestimate what you have, and perhaps do be
prepared to put some energy and money behind recovering them, and
getting indexed transcripts made. After that I would encourage trying
to find an archive that might be willing to accept and keep the
originals, along with CD copies and the transcripts.
