Thanks for the welcome last week, the time spent upgrading my PC and Vadim's interesting presentations.  My apologies for leaving before the end.

I'm out of my depth with most of the technical stuff but am learning all the time.  Alt/SysRq/b has been particularly useful over the last few days as I've been trying several 64 bit distros.  Unfortunately I'm still only able to use them in a safe mode, even with lightweight distros such as Linux Lite and LXLE.  Don't know why if Mint worked last week.  I did have a poke around inside the PC afterwards.
