Thanks David,
It must be coming from somewhere though as I altered the xorg.conf file to reflect the new card, yet it still has the info on the old card appearing in there! An internal search of conf file contents might reveal something, I'll see if I can get it to do that!
Its been told the right monitor, and seems happy with that, so I think it couldn't get into a position where it squirted a frequency at it that would damage it.
