As an employer, I'd expect any interviewee to undergo a simple
programming test - covering e.g. recursion and touching on some issues
of security (e.g. sql injection/xss/csrf).
Being able to show that you're up to date with PHP goings-on - e.g.
latest news, new programming ideas/concepts/etc would be a big step in
the right direction too (e.g. unit testing, MVC, frameworks, SOA and so
forth)
We'd never employ someone without them undergoing some sort of aptitude
test - although an exception to this would be if we already knew the
person and had experience of what they produce.
Finally, we'd have to be happy that you'd fit in to our team; so you'd
get to meet them, and they'd have some input on your selection.
Definitely wear a suit to any interview (unless you're really sure you
shouldn't).
David.
