If I can get away with running IPCOP on the Compaq Prolinea 590 then what=
 I
would like to do is
use the PR166 for testing different distros. If I ramp up the RAM to say
64MB, that should be good
enough for X shouldn't it?

I will certainly check the BIOS settings Steve, thanks for the tip :o) (t=
his
is what I love about
the list, there is ALWAYS somebody who knows what you need to know)

I had a look, couldn't see one. I bought it from the computer fair a coup=
le
of weeks ago for =A325.
Seemed a reasonable deal for what I had in mind... Before I obliterated t=
he
Windows 98
that was installed on it, everything seemed to be registered to a "Miss V.
Geary".... Hmmm,
stirs the imagination doesn't it? (lol)

Is IPCop memory intensive, processor intensive or would you say I/O
intensive and what would you
say is the minimum hard drive space required? All I would use the box for=
 is
firewalling, I would run my proxy server
on a separate machine so literally this box will do nothing except firewa=
ll
and intrusion detection... Thanks again Steve
I have found your advice to be very useful indeed....
