[Preston] Strange HDD / IDE problems

Thanks to everyone who's replied for your suggestions.  I have not
touched the PC for a long while but I will have a fiddle with the
connections if the weirdness returns.

At the moment it seems to be working ok (except for the ocasional
stutter) so I think I will just continue to back up all the time and
wait it out.
