  Chris,

The main use of Elgg is through groups/discussions and within each group 
there are facilities to notify you by either email or by Elgg message. 
If a relevant group doesn't exist simply create one and use notification 
to remain informed. You have to get your head round the idea of groups 
rather than forums.

The forum is a bit of a shoe horn job  to satisfy the old 20th century 
boys - it doesn't adhere to the notification standard,  you have to 
login to see what's happening.

Chris, I don't recall you appearing at any of the meetings this year. 
Let me know if I'm wrong.
