Don't connect it directly to the internet :)

Dig out that old PC and run an IPCOP firewall (www.ipcop.org), its a
stripped down Linux designed to run as a secure firewall on low end
hardware, I have mine running happily on an old dell P200 (was 166) with
64mb ram
