Hi guys,
Apologies for cross posting to both lists as I know a lot of you are on
both.
The guys at On the Beach want to expand some more and have mined the
available Rails dev pool for the moment - here is the mail verbatim
from their CTO.
> As you know we are trying to recruit more developers. We have a massively ambitious plan to deliver and we need to grow our team to suit. As you also know, it is very difficult to find good Ruby people. As a result, what I am planning to do is find as many experienced Ruby devs as possible but also to "grow our own". To do this I want to find and recruit up to 8 non-Ruby developers. They will need to be very bright, enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills. They will also need to be extremely good web developers already in another language such as .Net, Java, PHP, Perl etc. Ideally I would like them to have a demonstrable track record in delivering commercial web solutions.
> I am going to arrange what we are going to call our "Ruby Academy". This will involve a mix of activities including classroom based training, mentoring, out of hours assignments etc all designed to bring our new devs up to speed and make the productive Ruby developers. A key part of this will be that we will pair the new people with our existing experienced Ruby devs so that they can learn and be mentored for ongoing development. I will need you all to help with this and we will provide you with more guidance on what will be required nearer the time.
> For now I have a different request for you... Do you know anyone that you would like to recommend for our Ruby Academy? They would need to be of the right calibre - very bright, a good cultural fit, solid web development skills etc. You will receive a bounty if we take them on. If you know of anyone, come and see Colin, Paul J, Matt, Anna or me for a chat. We want to hear from you!
> Obviously the same applies for experienced Ruby devs as well.
