Mac OSX comes with samba and cups. They just have an On/Off switch :)

So linux and OSX can see and print to each others printers just by
plugging them into a lan, and you can mount (-t smbfs) the OSX shares
straight away, and OSX can mount linux nfs exports straight away etc,
which is nice.

Samba is good, but that SMB stuff is, AFAICT horrid.
