Systems Administrator (Linux)

Key Responsibilities:

Administration of web, mail, ftp and other Internet services. General maintenance of Linux systems.
Fielding of 1st/2nd level support questions on Linux systems. 
Client Support and Helpdesk where required.
Troubleshooting systems and Internet problems - connection, transfer, speed, etc. 
Swift & efficient hardware upgrades where necessary.
User maintenance.
Assist Systems Engineers in Backup system management as required
Database server administration
Creating innovative solutions to intractable problems
DNS administration
Firewall administration
Researching and applying security upgrades
Intrusion detection system administration and detection
Researching / testing new products and technologies
Systems help desk
Maintain administrative passwords and protect/secure WANs/LANS and Internet Links

As systems issues can occur at any time, we operate within a 24 hour environment, therefore there will be a requirement to provide cover as and when required.

You must be a Linux Operating System specialist with 1 years Linux support within a business environment supporting 1st/2nd level questions/queries on Linux systems. You must also have awareness and exposure to some or all of the following in a support capacity .Apache, MySQL Java, PHP, Perl.

You should be conscientious, service orientated, customer facing and able to work both as part of a small team and autonomously as required. As a methodological and practical individual, you will thrive on the opportunity to trouble-shoot and solve problems. Finally, you will also be commercially aware and be prepared to represent Systems in projects, maintenance and fixes when necessary.
