Folks,
I've been in touch with the minister at St. Peter's church (on St. Peter's
Street *shock*). I have arranged use of their hall for a Linux demo day. A
few of you might remember the one from a couple of years back which suffered
from a poor location. Well, this is in the center of Derby, so you can't
really get much better. The only problem is that we can only have it
Saturday afternoon, which I guess makes it a Linux Demo Half-day! I need to
speak to the minister to negociate date and cost. The reason we can't have
the hall in the morning is that they do a coffee morning, so I might suggest
working something around that. Free Linux Internet session for the regulars
or something, then invite Joe Public in in the afternoon. They do have ADSL!
I'll also invite Derby Community Wireless Network to do a pitch too. First
things I can think of off the top of my head are:
* When - speaks for itself this one. Ideas in a hat please
* Publicity - It's a pain in the @r$e, would anyone like to take ownership of
it? We need a serious publicty drive.
* What - What are we going to demo? I'm thinking a few workstations showing
usual web, mail, office, etc. Giving out CDs too.
* Anything else - ???
I think it would be a good idea to coordinate this from the wiki?
Mike.
PS. I'm thinking May?
