[SWLUG] alsa 0.9 and 586 compiled distros ?

hi,

I'm thinking of getting suse 8.1  as it has alsa 0.9 aware apps and system (actually working properly)  and is compiled for pentium (1-4...) athlon etc.  

Will I notice much speed difference with a distro where the whole lot (i assume ) is complied with a 586 flag ?
