[SWLUG] Friendly PC shops/old PC bits

Mark,

Have you tried CITC 
<http://www.citcwales.co.uk/cgi-bin/CITC/baseweb2.exe> (on Portmanmoor 
road industrial estate, not far from Magic R-bout)? They regularly throw 
out computer cases (I used to volunteer there).

They refurb 2nd hand business machines for charity but also sell (IMHO 
for too much) computers to individuals. They have a lot of old chips and 
SIMMs (! - I recommended making geek keychains out of them ..) and 
things lying around (or did at least) and plenty of obsolete hardware.

Computers that are totally borked get stripped for useful parts (memory, 
drives, video cards,...) and then junked.

I'd expect them to be suspicious so play it softly.

The main "engineer" was an MCSE called Karl when I was there. They have 
a dude called Ken (IIRC) who is good with monitors.

I tried to introduce them to linux but I wasn't really there long enough ...
