Started up the pc and then entered the BIOS to change boot-sequence so that the "Live CD" would load. The disk loaded but before the Ubuntu screen appeared a screen full of different colors appeared for a few seconds but other wise everything went well.
Opened a terminal and typed: sudo fdisk -l and this was the output:
ubuntu at ubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x2527a2c7
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 1019 8185086 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 1020 19457 148103235 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 1020 1528 4088511 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda6 1529 19457 144014661 83 Linux
ubuntu at ubuntu:~$
So i took a chance and tried to install Ubuntu and everything appeared to go well. I did select the option to "use entire disk" and that was it.
But when the installation had finished i was told to remove the "live CD" from the tray and click on enter, which i did. I also during the restart took the opportunity to change the boot-sequence back so that the new OS would load from the hard drive.
Upon restart everything was going great. The Ubuntu screen and the progress bar appeared along with the words: routine ch. Which lasted for about 30 seconds. Then this disapeared to be replaced in the bottom left of the screen with the words:
Analog RGB
1280 x 1024 / 28hz
Out of Range and that was it!
