Nope it's just this bit:

I do try and assume as little as possible. I didn't mean to offend at 
all, perhaps my soft skills are a bit run down, sorry. If it's any 
consolation most people lie everyday  (and yes I'm a big fan of House). 
Perhaps I should have been euphemistic ("overstating your position") and 
British about it. I digress.

/Meanwhile back at the thread/:I still don't see how application 
configuration is different from one distro to another, if I'm 
configuring Krusader (a twin panel file manager), say, then it's the 
same on whatever distro. Unless you're talking sys-admin level 
configuration of a raft of machines over the network? In which case I 
should probably have read more of the start of the thread??!

Can you give an example app that is different to configure under Ubuntu 
and Fedora - I can fire up virtualbox and try it out then.
