Fizzy, I think on past experience people on this board tend to shout far
more at me than you.

Point a: I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I'd like to think
there were better way of organising the world, but with one or two
honourable, small scale exceptions, it's the only game on the park right
now. Better to reform it than just let it rip.

Point b: Definitely disagree on this one. You and I buying fair traded
goods isn't going to change the world, but it will begin to change the
lives of some people for the better, and the more of us do it, and the
more we do, the more change there will be. Big changes will result if
we can change the terms of world trade, so that producers actually get a
fair whack for producing, and the west doesn't dump its subsidised
products in developing countries and destroy the markets for local
producers. I think this is worth campaigning and working for.
Ideological purity has a very poor track record of putting food onto
plates IMHO.

But it'll be interesting to see which of us gets most flak fizz....

Chris

I'm sure a2rt people will shout lots, but I would just
say that:

a) You can't reform capitalism, it's a flawed concept.

b) fair trade coffee is just so rich people can think
they are doing good to the world, it is not the future
(that whole 'greenwash' thing...)
