Yep, you have a point. I do admit to knocking Microsoft a bit, I have had
major amounts of frustration with both OS types - installing aps in Linux
flavours can be trying, but then installing into windows can be a headache
as well - see my comment on the printer driver. The main reason for using
Linux is that <everything> comes in the box, there are very few extras
that need to be located these days for a 'standard' machine beit desktop
or server, and that is a big boost for a tinkerer like me. That and the
fact that I have a big problem with paying for something only to find that
it doesn't work well or at all (ME being a classic example). At least
with Linux distributions if you don't like it, delete it, and there is no
further issues.
I do like your suggestion though of joining MS oriented forums and
pointing out differences - if nothing else, it will keep people aware of
other possibilities... ;-)
