There are always plenty of books that we can rely on once we get started, 
but knowing how to take those first steps is a real killer for many.  I

What packages are needed? - not where to get them and how to install, which 
gets out of distro-dependency
Creating a user
Users with different permissions?
Creating a very basic application
Gui front-ends?
